Valif is a prescription medication primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men - a condition where a person has difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse.

HOW IT WORKS

Valif active ingredient is Vardenafil (20 mg).

Vardenafil belongs to a class of drugs called PDE5 inhibitors. During sexual stimulation, the body releases nitric oxide, which creates a chemical called cGMP. cGMP relaxes the smooth muscles and widens the blood vessels leading to the penis, allowing blood to flow in and create an erection. Normally, an enzyme called PDE5 breaks down cGMP to end the erection. Vardenafil blocks this PDE5 enzyme, allowing cGMP to work longer, which improves and sustains blood flow. Please note, Valif is not an aphrodisiac. It will not work without physical sexual stimulation to trigger the initial chemical response.

HOW TO TAKE

Take one tablet orally approximately 30 to 60 minutes before planned sexual activity. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. However, a very high-fat meal can delay how quickly the drug starts working. Never take more than one tablet within a 24-hour period. Avoid heavy drinking when taking this medication. Alcohol can naturally make it harder to get an erection and can increase the risk of dizziness or low blood pressure when combined with the drug.

SIDE EFFECTS

Most side effects are mild to moderate and temporary.

The most common side effects are headache, flushing (warmth/redness in face or neck), stuffy or runny nose, indigestion/ upset stomach, dizziness or mild sleepiness.

However, some rare but serious side effects may occur. In that case please seek medical help urgently. Among those are -

Priapism: an erection lasting longer than 4 hours (can cause permanent damage if untreated).

Sudden vision loss or blurred vision.

Sudden hearing loss or ringing in ears.

Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or severe shortness of breath.

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS

The Nitrate contraindication: never take Valif if you use nitrate medications (like Nitroglycerin for chest pain or heart issues) or recreational drugs called poppers. Combining them causes a sudden, life-threatening drop in blood pressure.

Heart health: if you have severe heart problems, a history of recent stroke or heart attack (within the last 6 months), or severe low blood pressure, sexual activity itself may be unsafe, and this drug should be avoided.

Anatomical issues: use with caution if you have a physical deformation of the penis (like Peyronie's disease).

Other medications: inform your doctor if you take alpha-blockers (for blood pressure or prostate issues), as your dosage may need adjusting to prevent fainting.

Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as it can dangerously increase the medication's level in your blood.
